Benicia School District – Public Schools

The Benicia Unified School District is based in Benicia, Ca, a city in Solano County, California. The Benicia School District operates 2 high schools, a middle school and 4 elementary schools within the city boundaries.  The Benicia Unified School District was organized in 1850 and is one of the earliest California communities to establish a public education system. Benicia was the first state capitol in 1853-1854 and was relocated to Sacramento in 1855. By 1855 there were only 71 students enrolled in the Benicia school system. Benicia is also home to St. Dominic School, a Preschool though 8th grade coeducational Catholic school run by the Ministry of St. Dominic Parish which was established in 1854 by the Dominican Order of Priests and are a part of the Diocese of Sacramento.
